In the past, Nick has spoken about his struggle with depression which he says left him in a “lonely, dark place”. He has come a long way since then. In a recent interview with the TopCourt Nick spoke on the psychological challenges that a professional athlete has to deal with.
The Australian in this interview opens up about how until now he used to constantly try to live up to other people’s expectations and that made him an unhappy individual. When you constantly compare yourself with others and try to live up to others' expectations, any minor upset in life can take a heavy toll on you. Nick goes on to say that the only person that he reflects on now is himself and no one else. You are the master of your life, so dictate your own terms.
