I wish to be good
even though the world is a harsh place
even though kindness is rarely repaid
even though it costs my peace of mind

I wish to be good
because there are so few of us
because there is a purpose for us
because the Almighty has sent us

I wish to be good
even when people look down on me,
even when money slips away too soon,
yet, I feel richer than most

I still wish to be good
even if the world does not care
for I have dreams to chase and people to love
and I trust that God will make it fair.

But tell me, you all…
Do you still wish to be good, even if it costs you everything?
