Russia is at fault but the USA is not to be considered innocent in this. They have single-handedly diverted the attention of the entire world away from them.

The world has been cursing Russia for such a move but hardly anyone is paying attention to the fact that it was the USA that had started all this.

NATO had given assurance that they won’t be moving even one inch towards the east but they have broken all promises. The USA is a BIG factor in the scenario that has developed as a result of Ukraine’s efforts to join NATO.

“You promised us in the 1990s that [NATO] would not move an inch to the East. You cheated us shamelessly,” Putin had said at a news conference.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, NATO expanded three times: first to add the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland; then seven more countries even farther east, including the former Soviet republics of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania; and finally with Albania and Croatia in 2009. Russia didn’t complain when any of these nations joined NATO, but when it came to Ukraine joining NATO, Russia had no choice but to voice out. Russia objected repeatedly, but the west paid no attention to its concern.

In the early 2000s when President George W. Bush pushed for Ukraine to join NATO, France and Germany opposed it fearing escalation with Russia. Around 2008, Ukraine was given assurance that it will eventually join NATO but there was no proper timeline provided for the same. Even then, Russia didn’t bother to show its tantrum and it will take another 15 years for Russia to react to this. More than ensuring these nations’ security, NATO expansion served other purposes. By joining NATO, you will have an air defense system for security along your whole border. Who else would these air defense systems be for if not Russia?

What will the USA do if Russia stationed its S-400 Triumf on their border? Again I want to emphasize that whatever Russia is doing has to be condemned but the role of the USA should not be ignored. In every war, they have managed to change the narrative of the entire world.

Any country would defend itself if the missile system is being erected near its borders. This is not a swift action without prior notice.

The Russian president had spoken out on this issue several times.

His worries weren’t even once considered seriously. What choice do you leave, when you don’t even bother to hear the concern of the Russians?

The USA is the one to blame

This attack by Russia is obviously to be condemned but we should never forget the root cause of this.

If you just go back in history, all the major wars like the Korean War(1950–1953), Vietnam War(1964–1975), Iraq war(2003–2011), and then the creation of ISIS(Daesh) as a result, Afghanistan war and then the creation of Taliban as a result. Everywhere this chaos has been created by the American government and they wrongly claim to spread peace. All the chaos is a result of their belligerence.

Even now, as we see the turn of events the Americans have controlled the narrative of the entire world. We should try to understand the three-prong strategy behind this expansion: E.U. expansion, NATO expansion, and turning Ukraine into a pro-American liberal democracy.

For years, the pursuit of the USA to expand NATO eastward and establish friendly relations with Ukraine has increased the likelihood of war between nuclear-armed powers and laid the groundwork for Vladimir Putin’s aggressive position toward Ukraine. Even in 2014, after Russia annexed Crimea, Mearsheimer wrote that “the United States and its European allies share most of the responsibility for this crisis.”
