Why Is Christmas Celebrated On 25th December?

The name ‘Christmas’ is of recent origin and it means “mass on Christ’s day”.

Celebrated all over the world, in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Although this is a Christian festival, people of all traditions and religions celebrate it in their own unique ways. The unifying factor for all is the birth of Jesus in 5 B.C.

The angel that had appeared to the shepherds before Jesus’ birth had said, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord”.

Christmas is a time when all the family members come together and the most excited of all are the kids.

Origin of Christmas

The first known celebration of Christmas is during the time of Roman Emperor Constantine who was the first Christian Roman Emperor.

Why is Christmas being celebrated on December 25th?

The most primitive of all the theories is when Mary got to know that she is going to give birth to a special child, Jesus called the Annunciation was on 25th March and nine months later we have 25th December, the day Jesus was born.
